Mixed-Gender Personal and Professional Development

The Springboard Empower Development Course is a mixed-gender personal and professional development programme that helps participants build confidence, self-awareness, clarity and practical skills they can apply in both work and life.

Empower has been created as a distinct programme within the Springboard Consultancy portfolio, drawing on our long-established expertise in personal development, including elements that have proven successful within Springboard Women and Navigator Men.

Empower is not a replacement or substitute for our gender-specific development programmes, as it has been designed for organisations that want to bring people together in mixed-gender cohorts to explore shared development themes, strengthen personal effectiveness and support people to take greater ownership of their growth.

Across four interactive workshops, participants explore what matters to them, how they respond to change, how they communicate and influence, how they build confidence, and how they can take more intentional action in line with their values and goals.

The programme is flexible, practical and inclusive. It can be tailored to meet organisational priorities, and can be adapted for different audiences, such as early careers talent, graduates, emerging talent, employee networks or people returning to work.

The Business Case for Personal Development

Organisations invest in technical training, leadership development and role-specific skills because they recognise the importance of capability. Springboard Empower supports the foundational personal and professional skills that help people make the most of those opportunities.

Confidence, self-awareness, communication, resilience, motivation, values-led decision making and ownership of personal development all influence how people show up at work. These areas affect engagement, collaboration, readiness for progression and the ability to apply learning in a meaningful way.

Springboard Empower gives participants the space and structure to explore these themes in a practical, inclusive and supportive environment. It helps people reflect on where they are now, what they want to develop, and how they can take action with greater clarity and intention.

This might be an early careers cohort building confidence and workplace readiness, a mixed group navigating change, or employees who would benefit from time to reflect on values, communication, boundaries and future direction together.

Participants Gain

  • greater clarity around their values, priorities and goals
  • stronger self-awareness and emotional intelligence
  • increased confidence and ability to manage self-doubt
  • practical strategies for responding to change
  • better understanding of personal strengths and how to use them
  • improved ability to set boundaries and communicate effectively

Organisations Benefit From

  • employees who take greater ownership of their development
  • stronger engagement, motivation and participation
  • improved communication and collaboration across teams
  • better readiness for skills-based training, progression or wider development
  • increased resilience and adaptability during change and uncertainty

Programme Structure

Springboard Empower is delivered as a structured development journey across four interactive workshops.

The programme can be delivered as four full-day workshops or adapted into a flexible format to suit organisational needs. Sessions are typically spaced to allow participants time to reflect, discuss and apply their learning between workshops.

The programme is modular based, which means the emphasis can be adjusted depending on the audience and organisational objectives. This makes Empower suitable for a range of cohorts, from early careers groups to wider employee development programmes.

The four workshops create a progressive journey through self-awareness, confidence, communication and action.

Programme Delivery

Springboard Empower is delivered as a closed organisational programme and can be tailored to reflect the needs, priorities and context of the organisation.

The programme can be delivered in person, online or as a blended experience. Delivery can be shaped around organisational aims, cohort profile, sector context, internal language and wider people development priorities.

Because Springboard Empower is modular, organisations can work with Springboard Consultancy to place greater emphasis on the areas that matter most to their audience.

For example:

  • an early careers or graduate cohort may focus more on confidence, mentoring, networking, values, personal brand and workplace readiness
  • a cohort of people experiencing change may focus more on resilience, emotional intelligence, feedback, boundaries and communication
  • a focussed key talent development cohort may focus more on strengths, purposeful reputation, goal setting, influence and ownership of development
  • a wider employee cohort may focus more on confidence, wellbeing, values, listening, support systems and practical action

Springboard Empower can also complement other development activity, including leadership programmes, technical training, inclusion strategies, employee network activity and wider talent development pathways.

Why Organisations Invest in Empower

Organisations invest in Springboard Empower because it helps people build the personal foundations that support growth, engagement and readiness for future development.

Before people can fully benefit from skills-based training, leadership pathways or progression opportunities, they often need clarity, confidence, motivation and a stronger sense of ownership over their development.

Springboard Empower supports this by helping participants reflect on who they are, what matters to them, how they communicate, how they respond to challenge and what action they want to take next.

Springboard Empower Personal Development Course FAQs

How is this programme different to Springboard Women or Navigator Men?

Empower is a distinct programme in its own right.

It draws on Springboard Consultancy’s long-established expertise in personal and professional development, and includes some themes that may also appear in Springboard Women and Navigator Men. However, it has been designed specifically for mixed-gender cohorts and serves a different purpose.

Springboard Women and Navigator Men provide dedicated gender-specific development spaces. Empower brings people together across gender identities to explore shared development themes such as confidence, values, change, communication, boundaries, mentoring, networking and personal growth. This is particularly useful when bringing together groups of employees experiencing similar themes such as early careers, talent groups, employee networks, people returning to world of work and so on.

Who is Springboard Empower designed for?

Empower is designed for organisations that want to offer inclusive personal and professional development to mixed-gender cohorts.

It can support a wide range of groups, including early careers talent, graduates, emerging talent, employee networks, mixed departmental cohorts, people preparing for further development, or employees who would benefit from greater confidence, clarity and ownership of their growth.

Can Springboard Empower be tailored to our organisation?

Yes. Empower is delivered as a closed organisational programme and can be tailored to reflect your audience, context and development priorities.

The programme has a modular structure, which means emphasis can be adjusted depending on whether the cohort needs support with early careers development, confidence, communication, change, resilience, networking, personal brand, goal setting or readiness for progression.

How does Springboard Empower support early careers development?

Springboard Empower can be adapted to support early careers and graduate cohorts by focusing on the personal foundations that help people enter the workplace with greater confidence and clarity.

This may include values, strengths, mentoring, communication, personal brand, networking, feedback, goal setting, confidence and ownership of development.

For organisations, this can help graduates and early careers employees build readiness, motivation and a stronger sense of direction as they begin to shape their careers.

Can Springboard Empower sit alongside Springboard Women and Navigator Men?

Yes. Springboard Empower complements Springboard Women and Navigator Men.

Some organisations may choose Springboard Women or Navigator Men because they want dedicated spaces to explore gender-specific experiences. Others may choose Empower because they want a mixed-gender programme focused on shared development themes.

Many organisations may benefit from using the programmes together as part of a broader personal development, inclusion, wellbeing or talent strategy.
