Work & Personal Development Programme for Men

Most of us are good at getting on with it. What’s harder is taking the time to ask what we actually want, what might be holding us back, and where we want to go next.

Navigator is a personal and professional development programme for men, delivered through four interactive workshops. Open to men at any career stage, it recognises that confidence, self-awareness, communication and wellbeing shape how people lead, connect and perform, both at work and in life more broadly.

For more than 35 years, Springboard has supported hundreds of thousands of participants worldwide to develop greater self-awareness, strengthen communication and influence, and take intentional action in the choices they make about their careers and lives.

What Participants Will Learn on Our Personal Development Course for Men

Navigator explores the personal and professional themes that shape how participants show up at work and in life.

  • Self-awareness and identity – Understanding values, strengths, and the expectations that shape how people see themselves.
  • Communication and relationships – Building the confidence to express ideas, have better conversations and strengthen networks.
  • Change, pressure and wellbeing – Working through stress, energy and work-life balance, and responding to change.
  • Goals and practical action – Setting realistic goals and building habits that support growth beyond the programme.

The programme also touches on themes many participants recognise in their own experience, including modern masculinity, expectations around success and emotional expression.

Practical tools for continued growth

Frameworks and action plans participants can keep using long after the programme ends.

The Business Case for Men’s Personal Development

Technical training builds what people can do. Navigator builds how men understand themselves, relate to others and handle the pressure, whether that’s the technically strong employee who avoids difficult conversations, or the manager who keeps going without stopping to ask what they need.

For many men, there’s rarely a dedicated space to talk about this openly. Navigator creates one, giving participants a supportive cohort to explore these themes honestly. For organisations, that shows up in stronger engagement, healthier working relationships and a more inclusive culture, since men who engage openly with identity and wellbeing are better placed to contribute to psychologically safe workplaces for everyone.

Participants Gain

  • Greater self-awareness and personal insight
  • Clearer understanding of values, strengths and motivations
  • Improved communication and confidence
  • Practical strategies for managing pressure and change
  • Greater clarity on future goals and priorities
  • Stronger peer support networks

Organisations Benefit From

  • Improved employee engagement and motivation
  • Stronger communication and collaboration
  • Healthier working relationships
  • More inclusive development opportunities
  • Clearer progression and development conversations
  • Long-term impact through practical action planning

Programme Structure

Navigator runs as four interactive workshops, usually spaced two to four weeks apart to allow time for reflection and practical application between sessions. Full-day and half-day formats are both available, and each workshop builds on the last.

The four workshops focus on:

  • Self-discovery
  • Embracing change
  • Physical and mental wellbeing
  • Effective communication and practical action

Participants often form smaller peer groups between sessions, and everyone receives a Navigator certificate of completion with CPD recognition.

Programme Delivery

Our men’s personal development programme can be delivered in person, online, or as a blend of the two, led by experienced facilitators.

  • Open programmes bring together participants from different organisations, sectors and backgrounds for broader peer learning. Discover our upcoming open programmes.
  • Closed programmes are delivered for a single organisation and tailored to its values and goals, useful for larger groups connecting Navigator to wider inclusion or talent development activity. Book a discovery call.

Licensed delivery lets organisations train their own facilitators to run Navigator in-house, for more flexibility and control. Check out our facilitator licensing page.

Why Organisations Invest in Navigator

Navigator gives men a development experience that’s relevant and practical, while supporting broader goals around engagement, wellbeing, inclusion and progression. What People Say About Our Men’s Personal Development Course

“I have a much clearer idea about my goals and what I want to achieve in life, and this has given me a clearer sense of direction, purpose, and motivation.

The course covered so many different aspects, I’ve already identified a number of achievable things I’m hoping to do over the next year to improve my professional and personal life.

I felt the way the course focused on personal life made me feel more valued as a person, and through speaking with others on the course, I’ve got a much better appreciation for how important focusing on my personal goals can and will help me to improve my professional career”

Jake Boyes

Digital Skills Facilitator, University of Hertfordshire

“I found this course very poignant, and the content was relatable to many situations, whether it personal or professional. I didn’t necessarily have any pre-determined goals whereas now, I am much clearer on where my focuses should be and have a plan on how to achieve them.

I have a much better understanding of myself and my values which has helped me have conversations with people I wouldn’t normally have, and it’s also supported my presentation skills.

Our facilitator was truly inspiring – he was very engaging, relatable, passionate and delivered the course in a great way! I could go on.. I’d definitely recommend the programme.”

Senior Technical Surveyor, Orbit Group

Men’s Development Course FAQs

Why have a dedicated men's development programme?

A dedicated programme creates space for participants to explore themes that aren’t always discussed openly in mixed development settings, including confidence, communication, wellbeing, identity and future direction. Navigator doesn’t assume all men share the same experiences. It provides a structured space for honest reflection and shared discussion.

How does Navigator support career progression?

Navigator helps participants clarify their goals, understand their strengths and take more intentional action. For some, that supports progression into leadership development or new responsibilities. For others, it provides the confidence and clarity to have better conversations or reconnect with their priorities.

Do I need to be at a certain stage in my career to join?

No. Navigator is designed for men at any career stage, from early career to senior roles, for anyone who wants time to reflect, build confidence or take practical steps towards their goals.

Can Navigator be delivered as part of a wider inclusion strategy?

Yes. Navigator can complement wider work around inclusion, wellbeing and talent development, and can sit alongside Springboard’s women’s development programme, with optional follow-on activity connecting the two.

Is the programme suitable for both open and closed cohorts?

Yes. Navigator can be delivered as an open programme for individuals or smaller groups, or as a closed programme tailored to a single organisation’s aims, values and priorities.
