The Redeveloped Springboard Women’s Development Programme
Springboard’s Acclaimed Women’s Development programme that transformed generations is entering its next chapter
For more than 35 years, the Springboard Women’s Development Programme has supported hundreds of thousands of women across the world to grow in clarity, confidence and purpose.
The programme was originally initiated with the BBC, and the accompanying workbook won the 1989 Lady Platt Award for Innovative Equal Opportunities Training. Over the years the programme has evolved, and its legacy is so strong that many people can point to colleagues, friends, or friends of friends, who still talk about their “Springboard lightbulb moment” or the “magic of Springboard”.
Today, this iconic programme has been thoughtfully and significantly redeveloped for the realities, opportunities and challenges of modern working life. Not because the programme needed fixing but because we are committed to keeping Springboard relevant, inclusive and deeply impactful for the world women navigate now.
The next chapter is here: more reflective, more resonant, more empowering, and even more effective.

Why Springboard WOmen’s Development Programme Has Evolved
Fresh content. Real relevance. Same Springboard impact.
Women’s experiences have changed. Workplaces have changed. The expectations placed on women, professionally, personally and culturally have changed.
So, we listened.
We gathered extensive participant and client feedback. We studied the latest research into women’s lived experiences. We explored the evolving world of work, wellbeing, identity and inclusion. We spoke with facilitators and organisational leaders who use Springboard every year. We reviewed what still works brilliantly – and where we could elevate impact further. The result is a refined programme that:
- Adds new, modern themes grounded in lived experience
- Improves the flow, pace and emotional rhythm of each workshop
- Strengthens inclusive and intersectional design
- Introduces new tools for wellbeing, influence and intentional living
- Creates even safer, richer spaces for reflection, discussion and exploration
- Offers practical, relevant, research-aligned content for today’s world
- Is supported by a brand-new reflective journal
The Springboard experience: what’s new, what’s timeless with our updated women’s Development programme
Springboard remains centred on the powerful elements that have shaped its global impact:
Reflection – grounded, purposeful exploration of self
Connection – shared experiences, peer support and community
Action – clear goals, personal commitment and practical change
What’s evolved is how these elements come together.
Fresh, relevant themes shaped by women’s real experiences today
Across the four workshops, participants now explore a more holistic and contemporary journey:
- Understanding self, identity and values
- Navigating change and emotion with emotional intelligence
- Setting meaningful boundaries
- Challenging limiting beliefs and imposter feelings
- Building intentional habits that support growth
- Strengthening communication, influence and presence
- Exploring purposeful reputation and storytelling
- Managing wellbeing, energy and self-prioritisation
- Visualising the future with clarity and confidence
Each theme has been carefully updated to support both personal and professional growth recognising that women’s lives are not split neatly into “work” and “life”, and real confidence comes from aligning both.
Improved flow and emotional rhythm
The workshops now create more space for reflection, more time to connect, and more opportunities for discussion. Heavy or intense content is better balanced, and every session builds naturally on the last.
The programme is now also more modular by design, allowing for greater tailoring and flexibility, including additional content that can be added or changed according to individual and organisational need.
These new and improved modules can be also delivered as interactive bitesize sessions, ideal for women who have previously completed the programme, as well as those completely new to it.

More inclusive, intersectional design
The new programme reflects the lived experiences of a wide range of women – including age, race, disability, life stage, identity and cultural background, ensuring every participant feels seen, respected and valued.
Participants gain research-backed resources and exercises designed to support ongoing development long after the programme ends – helping them turn insight into sustainable, meaningful action. This includes access to frequently updated online resources which are developed in collaboration with the Springboard community including books, research, podcasts, videos, tedtalks and signposting.
New Reflective Journal
For decades, the Springboard workbook has been a trusted resource for participants – a space to capture learning, spark reflection and support growth between workshops. It’s played a powerful role in shaping the “lightbulb moments” that Springboard is known for.
The new Reflective Journal builds on that legacy and takes it further.
Thoughtfully redesigned from the ground up, the journal offers a deeper, more engaging and more intuitive space for personal exploration. It weaves together research-backed exercises, guided reflection prompts, lived-experience insight and practical tools that help participants turn learning into meaningful, sustained action.
Every section has been crafted to support different learning styles, encourage curiosity and create moments of clarity, both during the programme and long after it ends. It has also been reviewed by diverse sensitivity readers representing a variety of backgrounds and experiences to ensure the reflections and language remain inclusive, relevant and accessible to all women.
More than a workbook, the Reflective Journal becomes a personal companion for growth, confidence and direction – a development asset that continues to support development long after the final workshop.
